Vintage handmade scrap patchwork quilt top, estimated to date from approximately the 1930s–1940s

Constructed in a classic one-patch / postage-stamp-style pattern using hundreds of small fabric squares
Wonderful assortment of vintage fabrics in shades of blue, aqua, pink, red, lavender, green, brown, black, cream and white
Fabrics include charming florals, ginghams, checks, stripes, polka dots, geometric prints and solids
The wide variety of fabrics suggests the top was assembled from saved sewing and garment scraps rather than from a coordinated fabric collection
Appears to be hand-pieced, with irregular seam allowances and visible handwork on the reverse
Unfinished quilt top only; there is no batting, backing or quilting
The random placement of the fabrics creates a wonderfully graphic, almost mosaic-like appearance
Especially pretty displayed folded over a quilt rack, hung as a textile, incorporated into a collection of antique quilts, or used by a quilter/textile artist for restoration or repurposing
Several squares are loose or partially detached and will require repair if the top is to be completed as a quilt. Please review all photographs carefully for condition.
